We are riding bicycles over 6,000 miles in six months to raise money to build and remodel schools in rural Paraguay. Our journey begins in Ushuaia, Argentina. From there we will ride north through the Argentinean Patagonia on the famous Ruta 40, east to the Atlantic Coast, west again to Mendoza to cross the Andes Mountains in the shadow of the great Mount Ancongua. In Chile we will ride north along the Pacific Ocean to the Atacama Desert where we will cross the Andes back into Argentina through the Chaco to southern Paraguay.
We are two former Peace Corps Paraguay Volunteers who are going to ride 6,000 miles in six months from the Tierra del Fuego in Argentina, through Patagonia, to both costs, across the Andes Mountain range twice, via the Atacama desert, and lastly the Argentinean Chaco back to Paraguay. The goal of our trip is to raise donations that will be used to build, remodel, and furnish schools in rural Paraguay. The funds will also be used to dig wells, build sanitary bathrooms, install playgrounds, and provide learning materials and computers for each school involved in the project. See our website, www.bikingtobuildschools.com, for more information or to make a donation.
