Well here we are in Interlaken, Switzerland and it is COLD (right now it's -4 degrees outside). This is what we were expecting though and this place is so beautiful that any amount of cold is totally worth it.
We had a classic Swiss dinner on the first night here - fondue! Bread and cheese mmmmmmmmmmm. Annie had what I reckon is the best soup on this planet hehehe ... mmmmm goulash. :)
Unfortunately internet access here and most other places is very hard to find so we havent been able to blog as often as we wanted (and I really wanted to write some stuff about Dachau but we will have to revisit that some other time).
(Annie: Oi! Move!!!)
While we're here, just thought I'd fill in a few more details.
The train ride from Munich to here was looooonnnggg. About 8 hours all up. But the scenery was lovely and 8 hours actually passes by quite quickly when there are things to look at. Had two connections to make, and the second was almost impossibly tight - only 6 minutes to make the next train and although Germany trains are famous for being on time, ours was in fact running 2 minutes late. So really we only had 4 minutes. We ran. And after a minute or two of panic, we found our train and got on it. PHEWWWW.
We actually didn't have anywhere booked for the night we arrived here in Interlaken but we were lucky enough to find a reallz nice chalet straight away. It's actually only a 2-star hotel place but it's aaaaaaaaaawesome.
Met some really really friendly americans from Daaaaallas Texxaaaaas, who say "ya'll" with that friendly southern drawl about a million times every sentence. Hehe, very nice though, and today (Christmas day) they gave us some cake at breakfast, how nice.
Went up 3500m yesterday, I walked, Chris sat in a train. Yeah right. Don't think so. We both sat in a really comfy train along with a million other tourists who all seemed to be speaking English along with us. Weird after not hearing English for a while.
(Chris: Come on now, we should say more about the view!)
Ok, it's me (Chris) typing again. :) The views from of the Jungfraujoch are like nothing you can possible imagine until you're there. For a start you're on top of an almost 11,000 foot mountain covered in snow that has been setup with tourists in mind. Almost 360-degree views are all around and the view this time is as described in Lonely Planet - "indisputably spectacular". At the top of the train ride THROUGH the mountain that stops every few minutes to look out of windows that have been in the side you reach the top to find a sign that says "Ice Palace this way" ... Ice Palace?!?! Ok, we had to check that out. It's a series of massive tunnels that have been carved through the ice that makes up half the rock formation known as Jungfraujoch. It's an amazing place, no doubt about it. We're going to try and upload some photos now so check them out to see what we mean. :)
(Annie: Man you type a load of crap! Gimme a turn!) Hehe she's kidding, she just hassled me for typing long stories ... hey I'm enjoying the trip so far and I need to tell y'all what we're seeing! hehehe
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
