One of the things you have to do in Brisbane (living or visiting) is climb the Story Bridge. It's a 2 1/2 hour climb from the street level, up along the bridge to the highest point and back down again. It's run by the Story Bridge Adventure Climb company and is probably a stretch to be called an adventure climb but gives amazing views of Brisbane nonetheless.
It starts with a pretty intensive briefing during which they kit you out in super sexy overalls, harnesses, headlamps if you're going on the twilight/evening climb like we did, jackets in case of weather emergencies and one-way radios with technology developed by the U.S. Army. They're really serious about safety!
After making sure you're not carrying ANYTHING that might be dropped including rings, bracelets, watches, loose glasses etc they explain how to use all the equipment and ... ok you get the idea. It's hardcore. :)
The climb up the bridge is easy but some people appear to struggle with the gradient of the steps. It's pretty interesting to see big tough blokes fall to pieces when they can't hide their fear of heights any longer! No I'm not talking about me - the higher the better as far as I'm concerned. :P

The entire journey is narrated by the climb leader, a dedicated staff member that guides the group. They're very knowledgable and it makes the climb really interesting. Our leader, Beau, was a bit of a comedian and for a guy who had only been doing the job for a couple of days he did a great job.
While not exactly a heart-pounding climb it was great fun and we'd recommend it to anyone that comes here as the 360 degree views are awesome!
