· Excuse me, where are my bags?Toronto, Canada · 5th Oct 2008 · Posted by Annie
After about 50 hours of travel (no kidding, what were we thinking buying the cheapest tickets to Canada!!?!!), we finally arrived in Toronto. What a mission.
With the mission trip we'd just had, we knew that there was very little chance that our bags had arrived with us. With the rate that United Airlines kept printing us new tickets, there was no way our bags had managed to follow us around. Last time we'd seen them was way back in LA, in that random little place just outside customs where some big lady tells you to just "leave it there"... That never fills me with much confidence.
Anyway, we were right, our bags did not arrive. We spoke to the United Airlines representative, filled in all the appropriate forms, and skulked our way out of the terminal with nothing but what we'd been wearing for much too long (stiiiiinky) and our little carry on bags (with nothing but cameras and laptops and ipods in them - not too handy for this sort of situation).
As we wondered in to the arrivals hall, we immediately spotted our friends Chris and Aimee - it was so nice to see familiar faces. They drove us back to their place and very kindly let us use their shower and even some fresh clothes. Boy we were so prepared, we should really be called Scout Masters.
Even after showers, Chris and I weren't feeling particularly human. We went out for some dinner (mmm Thai) and considered going to Nuit Blanche (a once-per-year art exhibition that covers the entire downtown area in Toronto) with Chris and Aimee, but after realizing that I wasn't actually awake enough to walk in a straight line, we gave in and went to sleep. At 7pm. Ohhhhh yeah, paaaaaaaaartay animals!
