Over the last 3 days we've been frantically cleaning our old apartment in Brisbane City and packing up all our things in preparation for the move to our new place a little further out of the city. With a whole lot of hard work and with the help of some of Annie's workmates we managed to get it done though. When we get back from this trip we'll need to actually set up the house though! Moving on ...
This morning we got up stupidly early at around 5 a.m. and got all our things sorted so that the trip can finally begin. Bus from Auchenflower to Roma St station - $2. Train from Roma St station to the Airport - $30. Not working for 2.5 weeks while we cruise around Canada ... you guessed it ... priceless!
The flight from Brisbane to Taipei was pretty uneventful with China Airlines acting just like an airline and flying us there without any major issues at all. The food was good (although pretty sparse) and we had 2 seats on the right side of the plane all to ourselves. Sweet.
We landed in Taipei and managed to find our way to the transit terminal without any problems, fully aware that we'd need to spend close to 6 hours waiting for our next flight. Starbucks and Chinese food got us through the waiting time though, along with some totally awesome massage chairs - they are free for transit passengers. We managed to get 20 minutes of very relaxing massage into our extended stay in Taipei airport. The terminal is actually pretty massive with a TON of shops, most of which are top of the line brands. We saw some interesing items including a bottle of Hennessey cognac that cost around $27k AUD and an incredibly ornate carving of some sort that cost close to $400k AUD ... wow.

After wandering around for ages we headed to the departure lounges - that's where things started to get interesting. The flight was delayed by about 1.5 hours which caused havoc for a lot of people, including one friendly American guy who had a 1.5 hour connection in Taipei before his flight to Seattle. We doubt very much that he made it unfortunately.
Next stop, Los Angeles!
