Ahhh yes, it's that time again. Time for another completely random article title that won't make any sense until I explain it. I'll get to that though.
Also, starting today, I'm going to put a random MTB slang term at the start of these posts. Some of them are pretty funny. So, without further ado, today's MTB slang term is ...
Squid. A squid refers a pretty ordinary rider with a fantastic bike.
The first thing I want to say (this one's for you Toni) is that I had a can of Maori today. Hmmm. All you Kiwis out there are probably thinking ok WTF Chris ... and that's the idea haha. There are a thousand different energy drinks here that I haven't seen before but one of them is called Inked and is pretty damn good. There are normal flavours available but my favourite flavour name so far has to be "Maori". And just in case you don't believe me ...

Kia ora!
Awesome eh? :)
So, why am I making up stupid blog titles again? It's pretty simple really. Today I had my best day on the Whistler DH trails BY FAR. I went up this morning with a plan to crank around Ninja Cougar, Karate Monkey and A-Line as mentioned yesterday. I did those a couple of times and got faster each time so I thought ok let's try some trails I already know pretty well and hit those jumps properly. They had opened the top half of Crank It Up - my favourite trail - so I went for a run down it and deliberately tried to launch off the kicker and make it all the way over the table tops and down to the landing on the other side. Basically everything fell into place and I ended up nailing pretty much every one of them, a first for me. Talk about grinning like a child with a new toy! 3 runs later I decided to go and grab a helmet cam from Jamie @ Whistler Action Cams and go back up but the trail maintenance crew closed the top half of the trail just before I got back up - gutted! I did get some good footage of the jumps through the bottom half of Crank It Up but it's still on Jamie's laptop so I'll grab that tomorrow. Traditionally being a cross-country rider this is pretty sweet because it means that A-Line etc are now trails I can ride properly. :)
As to the blog title ... well ... jumping and other stupid stunts are often referred to as hucking haha.
Those of you have seen my updates on Facebook & Twitter today will have seen that I'm on a pretty big high after today and tomorrow is going to be even better. I'll try not to crash, I promise ...
P.S. My new friend "the bear" was hanging around again today and once again was wandering around on the trails I was riding. I think I've got some video of it wandering about in the distance but I'll put it up tomorrow.
P.P.S Enjoy the mountain bike slang glossary that I've used above!
