Saturday morning we went to the Shark cage. The Shark cage is the rugby supporters shop located at Kings park, Durban. I think it is the best of its kind in South Africa, and probably the world. I had figured we would be there an hour, but we got out in an hour 40 mins! We spent a lot less than I thought we would too. Okay we spent less than I thought we would.
After lunch we went to Gateway, the biggest shopping complex in Durban. We started with putt putt and then went to Sneakers, a South African sporting merchandise store. It is similar to the Shark Cage but also has soccer and cricket also. We only spent an hour at Sneakers! But it cost more than the Shark cage. The lady behind me almost had a heart attack when she heard the cost of what I had bought!
We then watched the rugby…Not a great win but a win nonetheless for the Springboks.
For dinner we went out to Macrib, who do great ribs! We had been meaning to visit macrib which aren’t one of the more popular South African franchises and thus not around everywhere, for the past 2 trips but just never got there. They were more expensive than most other restaurants but the ribs were definitely worth it. There were a lot of Comrades runners around the “golden mileâ€, Durban’s beach front full of hotels and restaurants. Many were out eating dinner, and many were just walking around. At 7-8pm though I was surprised they weren’t resting up for tomorrows run. Tomorrow we shall get to see the Comrades in action…
