It's now 10.30pm sg time and we are sitting in the plaza premium lounge at Changi airport.
It's been an eventful day. It started after an early morning start, packing and being taken to the airport by Chris and Annie. Thanks guys!
Check-in took forever and the stupid lady couldn't even pronounce where we were going to. We got a bit worried when Rheanna's passport kept beeping when it was swiped. This necessitated a manual entry. Then we hadn't got anywhere near the seats we requested, and on the second leg Rheanna was placed in row 35 whilst I was in 5o something!
They had no record of us making any seat requests. Considering when we purchased our tickets some 7 months ago we made a point of requesting certain seats, and we have made a point of reconfimring this many times, we were very grumbly about our travel agent.
We were not impressed, but after an eternity, being issued our boarding passes, and then seeking someone to help us, we were put in a row of 2 seats as opposed to 3 and were in the emergency exit row. They were primo seats as we had no one in front of us so unlimited leg room!

The flight was okay, but long. It was 8 hours, and we were surrounded by kids and screaming babies. Didn't get much sleep and dreading the 11 hours to Joburg still to go.

Another thing we did was spend $25 for an airport lounge. It has a gym that costs $10 per hour, free snacks and soft drinks, free internet and a shower. Not quite the picture that was painted to us though.

On arrival at Singapore airport we landed at T3, the new terminal. It's massive and very new. The toilets were impressive, except I got a fright when it flushed automatically as I was sitting on it! They even had a disinfectant dispenser so you can wipe the seat. What a simple clever idea. For an obsessive compulsive hygenic like me I was very satisfied!

A few hours left to kill and then the marathon 11 hours to Joburg. If it wasn't the best country in the world I don't know that we'd be able to put up with the flight. Here's hoping it's not too painful.

  • Hey guys, we hope you just arrived in a safe and sound manner.
Ha, we just could imagine Sanjay's face whilst the toilette was flashing by itself! (quite funny actually).

Anyhow... take pictures of the Comrades and post them here... we got to know what Sanjay's getting into next year!

    Regards,
