Thurs morning we started off with a city tour. It took us to Little India, Chinatown, through the city, a gem factory (what sort of Asian tour wouldn’t try to sell you something), the botanic gardens. We aren’t used to doing tours with other people…it’s so frustrating! Old people, annoying people, idiotic people…you know the kind…
After lunch we went to the Singapore flyer which has only been going since march. It’s essentially a very large ferris wheel but instead of sitting down you are in quite a large capsule. It takes over 30 mins to revolve around and you cant really feel it moving at all, but a moment later you realise you have moved on. It’s 165m to the top.
It’s glass all around (except the floor thankfully) so provides some stunning views of Singapore. I have to admit my legs feel a little bit jelly like at times…
In the evening we experienced the Singapore night safari. A “must do†according to everybody. Boy were there a lot of people, for a Thursday night too. The only way I can describe it is “a zooâ€. You get driven on a tram for some of it, and you have 3 walking trails. Most of the animals (predominantly wimpy Asian animals) are contained in open enclosures. Some (obviously not threatening at all) are free to roam around. And then a few are within glass enclosures.
After you have ever seen animals in the wild, you would never want to go to a zoo again...If this was South Africa…
