Anne of Green Gaaables, Neeeever Chaaange

Wheatley River, PE · 19th Oct 2008 · Posted by Richard
After our experience in the "high society" of the Algonquin, we headed off to Prince Edward Island to try and Countrify Richard. It was a nice drive and Richard was suitably impressed with Confederation bridge (the 13km bridge from New Brunswick to the Island). Some eyebrows were raised by the many fields of cows and lack of music stores along the way to the cottage.

My family has been staying at the Endless Summer Chalets in Wheatley River since forever with the kindly Connors who are now great friends. They were kind enough to offer us a stay with them as a wedding present. That's how nice they are. We arrived in time to have dinner with my mum and her friend Joan before they had to head back to NB. We also got to visit the site of my parents new house in Stanhope where the walls of the first storey had just gone up. It's going to be an awesome house with enough room for lots of visits :-)

Andrew and Tzepei were there with us for a couple nights and we did some site seeing with them. We even made it to "Green Gables" the house that inspired the setting for Anne of Green Gables. We did a tour around there. Some of us were more impressed than certain others. We checked out the beach as well, although we all agreed it would be much nicer in the summer!

In the evening we headed into Charottetown and had a traditional lobster dinner on the wharf. Lobster eating is an interesting time!

We also spent some time checking out Charlottetown. Richard was happy to be back in "civilisation". Tzepei was over the moon when we stumbled across a Taiwanese cafe and she treated us to "bubble tea" which was realy nice. There were bubbles... of the jellyish variety. Yum.

On our last evening I took Richard on an adventure through the fields and into the bush trying to find the river that backs the cottage property. No river was found but Richard's horizons have been well and truely broadened!

Next off is Halifax where we will spend the next few days enjoying the city.
