Everyone speaks with a squeaky accent ... much like Beth-anne, funnily enough. But even beth-anne mentioned that everyone sounds weird. which is true - squeaky.
this morning we woke up early by the alarm and then went back to sleep again for another hour. then we got up and went to Frederichton market where beth-anne's mummage bought a trunk load of vegetables, like we had berriberri or something.
we lined up on a very long line to get some world famous samosas, the sign said 1 samosa - $1, six samosas $6, twelve samosas $12. so that was very helpful, one doesn't need to know mathematics at all in cah-nah-dah.
the chicken samosa on first bite was dry and fluffy, but once the saliva kicks in they are a treat indeed. we got 12 of them cos they're only about palm size.
but they are yummy. you can get beef ones and vegie ones, but the vegie ones are ajoke cos you just get mashed potato and carrot. vegetable indeed. but yummy they were. there were lots of things to purchase, like pictures and cheese and cupcakes. we had souvlaki as well which are wraps like kebabs. they were all right but I was filled up on samosas.
we went to a park where beth-anne climbed "her" tree. the one we will get the wedding photos taken under. must be some tree eh? and there was a grey squirrel on it with a long bushy tail. cute! we got pictures. we also got pictures of beth-anne ungracefully dismounting from the tree with the help of her tree-like dad.
we also went shopping at a mall. we got cheap jeans and I got a cd and we got DVDs as well. CDs are sooo cheap! so are DVDs! And Books! All NZers will know that on the back of the book you can see "US $1.00, Canada: $2.00" and that is literally the price! Unfortunately i don't read books much no more so that's too bad. I don't want to lug lots of books around anyway.
we went to the supermarket where you can check in your own groceries. imagine the shenanigans that must go on there. we bought some cheetos which are like twisties but floatier and cheesier. and some doritos which are corn chips. and lots of other foodage as well.
we went to see beth-anne's grammie (that's grandmother for nzders) on her father's side and she was a hoot. she was very tall and said she didn't like dancing with short men cos it was like a cruise liner being shunted around by a tug boat. she lives in an oven with a dog that grabs her leg if she wants to leave, literally. and the dog also paws at your arm when he wants to be petted. and paws at your arm. and paws at your arm. so I passed the first grammie test, the next one is coming up soon.
erm, now we're relaxing with the sampsons on telly. canadian telly is ok. I'm tired cos I woke up last night and ate some mandarins cos I was hungry. I'm sure I'll get used to the time zone in three weeks.
canada is interesting so far. the trees are goldengrove and the cars are all new. there's no old bombs. lots of teenage university students around cos of the close proximity to the university which is interesting cos they all speak squeaky-like, and add "like" to every single sentence.
so a successful day, eating and shopping.
bye.
