· Sore Feet and Empty Wallets

Hello again readers.  Thanks for coming back after reading the first post.  I promise this time wont be all about food and shopping!! (but some will have to be...)

We've had 2 very busy days since the last post.  We've just returned to the house after being on the go for about 10 hours.  I feel like I'm walking on bruises.  Ouch.  Anyway, enough with the unpleasantness cause here's the fun we've been up to.

Yesterday was a marathon shop day.  We spent over 6 hours in the infamous Orchard Road shopping district.  A lot of the stores there fall into the "If you need to ask the price then you can't afford it" category but it was fun having a look around them.  Not to say we didn't buy anything cause our wallets would strongly disagree. I think Richard saw enough purses to last him a lifetime but he shouldn't really complain since mine is usually half full of his stuff!

We were taken out for another Hawker Centre dinner by Richard's aunt and uncle.  As always, we were treated to some new and interesting food.  The highlight of the night was the Sri Lankin crab in a creamy sauce.  I wouldn't have the first clue what was in that sauce but was it ever good!

We took advantage of the slightly cooler evening to go into Chinatown for a look around.  It's a cool place to be after dark with all the red lanterns lit up.

So.  Exhausting day done.  Next exhausting day - We started off with a trip to Simlim city to go to the electronic mall.  6 floors of electronics.  Craziness.  A sales lady nearly convinced me to buy a head massager that looks like a helmut.  She convinced me to try it out and Richard and his cousin Jeannette were laughing at my shameness until they were convinced to try another thing that sends electtronic shocklike things into your muscles.  Doesn't sound terribly relaxing but it was funny to watch them twitch.

We spent most of the afternoon at the Singapore Zoo.  It is the most fantastic zoo I have ever been to.  It's so big and so full of beautiful plants and animals.  The highlight for me was probably when a lemur and a tree kangaroo (didn't know that one even existed!) scaled the balcony and hung out with us for a while. The white tigers and the polar bears were also pretty cool.

After the zoo we headed back into the centre of town and went on the Singapore flyer.  It's a huge ferris wheel type thing similar to London's (but bigger I'm told).  We did that just as the sun was going down and it was a beautiful view of the city.

So that is about it for today.  I'm exhausted from all that we did and the extreme heat.  I think I bought 5 fresh green apple juices today and am nearly resolved to dig out the juicer that I bought with the best of intentions after the last trip here.

Tomorrow we are hoping to go to Sentosa island and then we have only one day left before we fly on to Europe.
